A place to live and Thrive

The Wesley foundation has a dorm where students choose to live in Christian community. It is the real classic college experience with community dorms and community living spaces, similarly, to having a small Christian college experience at a large state school. The space for 48 students offers a chance for students who are passionate about their faith to live among others who help them grow daily. It also provides students who may not have a strong relationship with God an affordable place to live and a community to surround them and show them the love of Christ.

Most students have roommates although we do have several single rooms. We encourage living with a roommate because it gives students an opportunity to build a close relationship with another person that can potentially last a lifetime. Lifelong connections are a bedrock of our community. Many of our residents return to hang out with us years later. Here are some other things that make our dorm special:

Family room

This space is a great place to hang with friends on comfy couches, watch TV, or to gather around the fire on a cold or rainy day. Thousands of movies have been watched in this room over our seventy-five-year history. During election time students historically gather to discuss the vote. Despite tense opinions this has always helped bring insight to each person’s outlook. The family room is a reminder of how our community is capable of embracing each other, regardless of politics or denominational differences.

Kitchen

Many students choose to save money by cooking their own meals in our commercial kitchen. Students have access to a gas stove, refrigerator (there are additional refrigerators in the rooms), and pots and pans. In addition, each student gets their own cabinet to store food and kitchen items to make cooking more convenient. Several times a week there are also free meals offered during Wesley foundation events.

Dining Room

Students gather for meals during ministry times and at other times throughout the day and night. It is not unusual to see students eating, studying, or gaming at the different tables around the room. This is a space where students connect to one another. We often use this space to encourage the growth and formation of relationships inside and out of our physical building.

Basement

The main area of the basement doubles as a worship area and hang out room. Students can hang out with friends, study, and watch movies. There is a projector with a large screen and surround-sound for frequent movie nights. We also have a prayer room. This is a quiet place where students can come to feel more secluded and connect with God. It has dimmable lights (like the rest of the basement) a soft carpet floor, and a prayer request board. We also have a laundry room in the basement which will allow students to handle their own laundry. The machines will only accept quarters.

Game Room

Our basement houses a game room with pool table, ping pong, foosball, and shuffleboard. It is a great place to have fun and relax. Our community has many video game players who use this room for LAN parties and online tournaments (our WIFI is also very good for Lexington, about 30ping). Others also meet in this room and around the Wesley to play D&D and many other board games.

The Roof

We sometimes extend our living space to the roof with movie nights or watching UK games. Located on the roof there is also a hammock and some chairs. It happens to be a great spot to also watch the Sunset.

Outdoor Spaces

Outside is a great are to sit by the fire pit, study at tables, or throw a football. Students love to get outside when the weather is nice.
